Tips to Know Before Cosmetic Surgery
Cosmetic surgery is a surgery. It is invasive, has a recovery period and can potentially change your life. Therefore, like you would for any other surgery, there are certain aspects that you will have to consider.
The first thing is your motivation. Analyze why you are having the surgery. Is it to please a spouse or to get rid of something that is making it difficult for you to socialize? Cosmetic surgery cannot be a spur of the moment decision. It has to be thought through clearly. Think of what you hope to achieve – is it the looks of a film actor, a better social standing, increased acceptance from family or a spouse?
Though you may consider it unnecessary, take into account your family’s feelings. Would they like you to undergo any change or do they agree with your decision. This matter has to be taken up especially with children. They will have to be explained to, on how things stand to change. You have to also consider how cosmetic surgery can possible change your social life. The aim is to improve on yourself as a person and not become someone entirely new and unfamiliar.
An important aspect of cosmetic treatment is one’s physical and emotional wellbeing. This is essential for the healing period. Good health is needed to avoid complications that can arise as a result of undergoing the knife. If you do have a health issue, then you will have to wait for a while to heal or gain control over it before you consider having surgery.
Planning for such surgery is also a time to give up on vices. Smoking should be given up as this can have adverse effects on the healing process. If the will to discontinue your vices is not there, then perhaps the grit to go through the process may not be there as well. Undergoing surgery is also an expensive affair. You have to consider how the expenses are going affect your family. Think things through before you add to the financial burden that your family is carrying. Spending on a credit card or taking out a loan is a very bad idea.
And finally talk in detail to your doctor. Analyze the pros and cons of the surgery and your expectations out of it. The idea is to be realistic and not destroy what you already have.
