Getting Rid of Cellulite – What Actually Works?

Millions of women suffer from cellulite – indeed it has been estimated that as many as 80% of women over the age of 20 have the condition (it’s also been know to happen to men as well – but this is much less common).

But enough of that – how do you get rid of it?  One of the most effective methods of getting rid of cellulite (for virtually anyone) is exercises.  However, you need to do the right kind of exercises (not the power lifting / bodybuilding kind for a start) and I’m going to go through some simple things you can do to reduce the appearance of cellulite on your body in this post.

There are three steps:

  1. Walk it
  2. Work it
  3. Diet

Walk it!

Walking is a good cellulite busting exercise and thankfully it’s easy to do, plus you don’ need a gym and can easily fit it in with the rest of your day.  Walking is also a good way to lose weight and improve your health.  It’s about the easiest exercises you can start off with.

You’ll need to walk 2-3 miles per day and do this for 5-6 days per week.  This will be enough to get started eliminating that cellulite and also could help you shed a surprising amount of weight.  It’s important to walk briskly, but there is no need to over do it – you’re not training for a marathon or to enter the 100m.

After your brisk walk, you’ll need to d a simple home workout routine too – which is really rather like a series of stretches.

Work Out!

This is the second stage – the work out.  These are some simple exercises to be performed after your 2-3 mile walk.  Please note, this is just one simple routine – there are full cellulite busting workout and diet programs out there, some of which are highly recommended.

The core exercises I would suggest to someone who is just starting would be the following, however, there are many more you can try that will work just as well or better.

  1. Thigh raise
  2. Seated knee stretch
  3. Kick kick
  4. Pony Kick
  5. Ballet thigh
  6. Thigh chair

Do each in the above order, holding the position for about 15 seconds for each leg for the first five, and for 20 seconds on the final (in which you use both legs at the same time).


The last phase is the diet phase.  Cellulite is fat trapped under the skin, yet is is not reduced or cured with dieting alone.  However, the right diet alongside a good exercises program should make a significant difference when followed correctly.
